Ooh, my copy of ngā whakamatuatanga / interludes by Vaughan Rapatahana arrived today. I ordered it in June, so Covid definitely impacted the time it took to get here, but it’s finally here!
I bought this book after reading some of Vaughan’s poems over at NZ Poetry Shelf. I liked the blend of te reo Maori with English, but I also liked that he wasn’t afraid to tackle controversial topics, or to swear, or to experiment on the page, or to make fun of himself. His poetry felt real. And now his poetry is in my library. 😀
Tomorrow I’m hoping to go to the local Lion’s $1 book sale. I wonder what treasures I shall pick up for $1! I might let you know. 😉
Edit: I got a book each by Catherine Coulter, Stephanie Laurens and Donna Fletcher, none of which were on my list. Hubby got one book, and I bought one for my daughter and two for my son.
