I ache to keep pushing,
to keep this relationship alive,
(30 compressions for each breath)
but I know it’s too late.
You’re here, but you’re gone,
a mere shell of the husband I used to know.
A vacant stare, an empty heart.
Everything else
is just a formality now,
except the grief.
That one brings up memories from when my marriage died. You expressed it perfectly.
