Stuck in suburbia,
defining average.
His world defined
by dramas beyond the ken
of mediocre housewives
working 9-5 jobs they hate.
“I can’t tell you,”
insisted, repeated, insisted.
“You’d never understand.”
I’ve felt suicide
shatter complacency.
I’ve seen tragedy’s desperate depths.
I’ve spoken of sex and abuse,
kinks and
tortured torments.
But I’m stuck in suburbia,
defining average.
I wouldn’t understand.
